This course is WA DSHS approved & includes varying hours of the following training:

  • Fundamentals of Caregiving 

  • Continuing Education

This is an online course that uses zoom lectures. You will receive additional course information via email once registered.

 

This course is designed for the following LTC workers:

Most Long-Term Care workers must complete 12 hours of Continuing Education (CE) each year before their birthday. For information about your specific CE requirements, please refer to the DSHS CE Requirements Chart.

  • Long term care worker – a person paid to provide direct care, a caregiver.

  • CE Hours – The 12 hours of CE required each year by your birthday.

 

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Understand what is required and expected of you in your job.

  • Know how and why it is important to protect a client’s rights.

  • Use good communication and problem-solving skills with a client, family members, and other care team members

  • Protect the health and physical safety of a client and yourself

  • Correctly provide personal care and other authorized tasks while:

    • understanding how a client wants things done and doing tasks that way

    • honoring a client’s privacy, dignity, and differences

    • encouraging a client to do as much as he/she can
