DSHS - Dementia Specialty – Level 1
This course is a DSHS approved online Instructor led training for caregivers, resident managers, and providers in long term care settings. Students will learn dementia basics, delusions/hallucinations, working with families, sexuality & dementia, ADLs, communication, trauma informed care, challenging behaviors & more.
This one day specialty class follows the DSHS created curriculum. This is an 8 hour class & certificate which can be used for:
Meeting a job requirement
As part of the population specific training toward 75 hour HCA training completion
As continuing education credit

About This Course:
Textbook provided in the classroom.
Class is instructor-led either in-person or via zoom as arranged, and includes Instructor lecture, group work, and a written exam at the end of the day.
Exam must be passed with 80% or higher to receive the certificate.
You may reschedule 1 time for free, within 30 days of the course if the initial exam is not passed during class.
Retesting is typically offered on Saturday mornings at 9:00am.
Students can speak to the admin team to set up if needed.
